ABOUT THE BENNETT FOUNDATION

Established in 2024, The Julia Cuttino Bennett Foundation Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit and charitable organization. The mission of The Bennett Foundation is to empower and uplift the next generation of Black nursing students. Inspired by the remarkable life and career of Julia C. Bennett, a devoted nurse who served Harlem Hospital Center for thirty-nine years, the Foundation is committed to honoring her legacy of hard work, integrity, and dedication. We strive to provide opportunities for students who aspire to pursue nursing careers, fostering a spirit of excellence, commitment, and community service.

 

The vision of The Bennett Foundation is to be a transformative force in the lives of nursing students, enabling them to achieve their educational and professional goals while embodying the values of excellence, integrity, and service. Through our efforts, we aspire to continue Julia's impactful work and reinforce the vital role of nurses in healthcare, creating a lasting legacy that spans generations.

Julia Cuttino Bennett attended Central School for Practical Nursing where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She continued her education at New York City Community College, City College of New York and graduated from St. Joseph’s College with a Bachelor of Science degree to become a Registered Nurse. Her entire nursing career was at Harlem Hospital Center for thirty-nine years, beginning as a Nurses’ Aide, progressing to Licensed Practical Nurse, Staff Nurse, Assistant Head Nurse, Head Nurse and Nursing Supervisor.
